Aguirre & Jonnson have over many years developed an artistic practice based on curiosity, contradictions, and creative dialogue. Projects such as Walking on Time, Playful Thingamabob, Humanoids, and City Submarines are not closed groups, but open systems that grow organically and often become starting points for new works.
Their practice resists offering clear-cut answers. Instead, it seeks to stir existential, philosophical, and emotional inquiries, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect inwardly.
From sculpture and UV-print, to video, installations, and collages, their choice of materials and techniques varies from project to project, but is always carefully selected. The works are often constructed in layers, inviting many different interpretations.
Their recurring grasshopper “symbol” is both playful and profound. It stands for spontaneity, movement, and reflection embodying Aguirre & Jonnson’s philosophy: to shift perspective, stay flexible, remain curious, and stay in motion.
A piece might begin with a photograph, an object, or painted coordinates, but it always leads somewhere deeper: Who am I? Where are we going? Why are we here? Their visual language radiates with vibrant energy, layered associations, and mystery. It opens pathways to new possibilities, carried by curiosity and a positive attitude toward life’s journey.
Their art is represented in private collections, companies, and municipalities, regions, and public institutions. They have exhibited and carried out art projects in several countries, including Norway, Finland, Germany, the USA, Colombia, Japan and China, as well as in various locations in Sweden.
Currently working with a few parallel projects, an art book collaboration with students at Broby Grafiska. A public art commission of creative in- and outdoor seating places together with a group of youngsters, and preparations for upcoming exhibitions in Poland and Germany.
